Long Time Dead

Long Time Dead is a British horror film. As credits roll, 1979 and Morocco are identified as the time and place for mysterious events involving a Ouija board. The film begins with a group of mixed twentysomething youth, who are hanging out together in a London apartment. Soon, they go to a disco and get bored until one suggests a Ouija session. During the session a spirit identifies itself as a Djinn, an Arabian fire spirit, which says “All dead.” One by one, members of the gang die with severe burn marks, providing some suspicion that a Djinn has been summoned and now is compulsively murdering those who summoned him. Meanwhile, one member of the gang visits his father in prison, where he was sent after committing heinous crimes of passion in Morocco during 1979. Despite efforts of writer-director Marcus Adams to obscure the clues, the ending is not very surprising. The horror element consists primarily of sonic booms, which are more laughable than frightening, and the story ultimately has no point. MH
